SCYP

In our interviews with city program managers of the SCYP projects, we heard about the ways in which the experience of involving city staff in applied sustainability education had positive impacts on both the university and the local community.
The engagement between the students and city staff builds trust and creates relationships that make everyone feel empowered, energized, and more creative, which are essential characteristics for addressing complex sustainability challenges. The experience also has a strong impact on municipal planning and decision-making, bringing the community into the conversation and creating significant civic participation.
